Social responsibility
Omni Elektronik has joined the “Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs” network. Founded by Oxfam, this initiative for small and medium-sized companies supports enterprising women and men in poor countries in building an economic livelihood through their own efforts.
One third of all people worldwide live in poverty. Oxfam, one of the most influential international development organisations, finds practical, innovative ways to change this: together with local partner organisations and the people on the ground. Unfair conditions and a lack of start-up assistance often prevent them from taking control of their own lives.
Thomas Breitbach, Managing Director at Omni Elektronik, explains: “Entrepreneurship has the power to overcome poverty in the long term. With their own small businesses, people can lift themselves out of poverty and lead lives of independence and dignity. With the money they earn, they can feed their families, send their children to school, and pay for medicine and medical care. They can reinvest any surplus back into their business and create new jobs to give even more people the chance of a better future.
We support all of this as a member of “Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs” in order to contribute to a fairer and better world.
The sustainability of our support is ensured by flexible funds. After all, poverty can only be overcome in the long term if fairer conditions are created and people receive emergency aid quickly and unbureaucratically in the event of crises and disasters.
The women and men we will be specifically supporting have no access to start-up capital, vocational training or support in developing their professional skills. In most cases, they have no way of responding to crisis situations in their environment, influencing political decisions that are important to them, or asserting their rights. Together with Oxfam, we want to change that.
Omni Elektronik is determined to give people living in poverty a chance and to work towards a fair world without poverty!”
